The Great Training Robbery: The solution starts at the top

Each year, billions of dollars are spent on training. And, per the Harvard Business Review, we are not getting a good return on this investment. Why? In studies following intense training, the participants state the following as to why that investment was lost:

a. The team cannot implement daily due to managerial and organizational barriers.
b. The managerial process and organizational structure do not align with what was trained.
c. The C-suite does not participate, so they do not know the training was a waste.
d. Senior leadership has not committed to the new direction.

So, how do we fix this? It starts at the top. Executive leadership needs to be aware of and even participate in the training. They need to know the goals of the training and commit to that new direction. And they need to allow for adjustments to the structure of how things are done to foster improvement.

Fertile soil needs to be in place so that the seeds of training can grow.

Much of this comes down to communication and the flow of communication up and down the chain of command and across various departments. The team at Endurance can help you and your team implement by facilitating and confirming that the communication has occurred, has been heard, and that goals are aligned to facilitate growth. We have over 35 years of experience doing this with our teams and those we coach. Let’s spend some time talking about how your team implements training and overall self-improvement.

The team at Endurance has spent over 35 years helping organizations grow, learn, implement new ideas, and provide a safe environment that fosters open communication. Here is where an outside perspective can help your team become aware of any obstructions to change and implement improvements. Let’s take some time to talk about your team and your training environment.
