Blue Zones are places where people live the longest and have the greatest percentage of those who live past 100. Not only live, but live vibrant, productive lives. For those of us who want our agencies to thrive well past the 100-year mark, we need to create a community where the individuals support the community and everyone within is supported by others and the entity as a whole.
As with many things, this must start at the top. As leaders, we need to support the individuals, not only those in leadership but throughout the entity. Too many times, we are thinking of just supporting the entity (or the bottom line) and need to remember that every individual has a life and may have challenges no one knows about.
This is something I have had to learn over the years and would have benefited a long time ago by witnessing the outcomes as shown in the Blue Zones. Lucky for me, I have been blessed with having some very strong and empathetic individuals next to me. I leaned towards the benefit of the EBITDA, and they helped me not lean too far. If we support the individuals, the rewards back to the entity will be exponential.
Many of us as leaders have to get outside of our comfort zone when providing a supportive community. The team here at Endurance can help. Let’s talk about how you and your team can improve in building a supporting entity that enhances the lives of the individuals so they can, in return, enrich the entity’s life.
